Bonners Ferry man facing felonies in Nebraska

A reckless driving complaint Saturday landed a Bonners Ferry man in jail in Nebraska on felony charges. At around noon May 22, Nebraska State Police received a report of a Chevy Impala being driven recklessly on Interstate 80 south of Wood River, Nebraska.

Troopers located the vehicle in a gas station parking lot at the Grant Island interchange and saw a firearm in the center console while talking to the driver, Miguel Vasquez Estrada, 25, Bonners Ferry.

Further investigation reportedly turned up a plastic bag containing 18 pills suspected to be fentanyl.

Estrada was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a concealed weapon, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. His passenger, Cody Deichen, 26, Hastings, Nebraska, was charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.

Both men were taken to the Hall County Jail.
