A former Moyie Springs man now living in Idaho Falls has been sentenced to two to six years in prison for rape, with jurisdiction suspended. If Jimmy Mathews, 27, successfully completes a “boot camp” program, he could be released on parole in six months.
Judge Barbara Buchanan sentenced him January 13 to two years in prison, determinate, and four years indeterminate, giving him credit for two days served nd withholding judgment, meaning he will be required to complete the six-month rider at the North Idaho Correctional Institution, Cottonwood.
He was also fined $500 and ordered to pay $645.50 costs.
Mathews was charged June 24, 2019, for having had sexual intercourse with a girl 17 years of age, he being three years or older than his victim. He pled guilty to the charge September 28, one day before his trial was set to begin.
