The National Weather Service, Missoula, has issued both a high wind watch and a winter weather advisory for snow for the Kootenai/Cabinet Region on Tuesday.
The winter weather advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday and calls for one to three inches of snow at higher elevations and a wintry mix with glaze ice in the valleys.
The high wind watch encompasses much of western Montana and is in effect from late Tuesday night through Wednesday evening.
Southwest winds of 30 to 40 miles an hour, gusting as high as 60 miles per hour, could blow down trees and power lines, causing widespread power outages.
Travel is expected to be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
