You can get reimbursed, but no free Thanksgiving dinner giveaway at Walmart

A nice holiday offer involving Walmart is a scam, store officials say.

If you read or hear that Walmarts nationwide are giving away free Thanksgiving dinners, don’t get excited, it’s not quite true. Associates at both the Ponderay and Kalispell Walmarts say they have been inundated with calls, and while they offer no details, they say the story is not true.

Not quite.

But there is a way to get certain items for Thanksgiving dinner you purchase at Walmart reimbursed. It’s available through Ibotta, a free cash back rewards and payments app that gives you cash for everyday purchases when you shop and pay through the app.

In order to get a free Thanksgiving meal for your family, you’ll need to download the app and add the eligible offers to your Ibotta account before you shop.

A list of eligible items and other details are available on the Ibotta website.
