Janice Tucker is BCSD 101 Certified Employee of the Month

By Principal LaGina Brown

Congratulations to Janis Tucker, who was voted Boundary County School District 101 November Certified Employee of the Month! Janis is in her 36th year of teaching and is a proud 1977 graduate of Bonners Ferry High School.

She attended Spokane Falls Community College and Idaho State University, where she played volleyball and threw the discus and javelin in track and field.

In addition to teaching high school PE, health and speech, Janis has coached volleyball for a total of 39 years, 31 as BFHS varsity volleyball coach and the past eight years as the BCMS volleyball coach. Janis has also coached basketball and track.

She says her favorite part of teaching is when students have that “aha!” moment and she really loves to see the academic or attitude turn around in kids. It’s all about the relationships built.

Janis has been married to her other half, Jim, for 38 years. In her spare time she enjoys making birthday cakes for her five grandchildren and, as you might guess, working out and walking religiously.

Bonners Ferry High School students are extremely fortunate to have such a caring and compassionate teacher as Mrs. Tucker, and her colleagues are lucky to work with a top notch teacher and professional.

Thank you Janis for all you do!
