Joe Biden has been declared President Elect of the United States with 290 electoral votes to Donald Trump’s 214. In the popular vote, Biden to 50.6 percent with 74,857,880 votes to Trump’ 47.7-percent, or 70,598,535 votes.
Next, each state’s chief election official will certify the election results in their state.
On December 14, electors will cast their electoral vote based on the certified election results from their state. After the state’s electors formally choose the next president, most often based on the popular vote in each elector’s state, the candidate chosen is inaugurated and will assume office at noon Wednesday, January 20.
