Moore enters not guilty plea, trial set

Dr. Daniel Lee Moore

Bonners Ferry chiropractor Dr. Dan Moore, 63, released on bond last month, entered a not guilty plea to the charge of second degree murder at his arraignment before Judge Barbara Buchanan Thursday, and the case is set to proceed to trial.

Defense motions for the return of evidence were denied.

Buchanan set aside two weeks for the trial, to begin April 12.

Moore is accused of shooting chiropractor Brian Drake in the back, firing a handgun once through a window into Dr. Drake’s South Hill office as he sat at his desk March 12.

On October 29, a post ascribed to Dan and Karen Moore was posted to the Moore Chiropractic Facebook page.

“To all my loyal friends and patients,” it reads. “I appreciate all of your support and kindness through these last few months. While I can’t talk about the specifics of my case at this time, I can say this: I am innocent of all charges. Your outpouring of love and well wishes have helped my wife and kids and myself through this ordeal. We have the deepest gratitude for your support and thank you for everything, especially your prayers. We have re-opened for business and look forward to seeing you all soon.”
