High wind watch for northwest Montana

The National Weather Service, Missoula, has issued a high wind watch for the Kootenai/Cabinet and Lower Clark Fork regions of northwest Montana, in effect Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Southwest winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour sustained, with gusts to 50 miles per hour, are possible.

Areas impacted include Highway 2 from Libby to Kalispell, Bull Lake Road, Highway 37 from Libby to Eureka, Highway 93 from Eureka to Whitefish, Highway 200 from Thompson Falls to Plains and from Trout Creek to Heron, and I-90 from Lookout Pass to Haugan.

Winds could to6pple trees, blocking roads and causing power outages, and blow loose items around, possibly causing property damage. In addition, it could make travel difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
