After several days at the scene of a house fire in Perkins Lake following a report of a shooting September 22 by Boundary County Sheriff, Idaho State Police and Idaho Fire Marshal investigators, it has been confirmed that a woman’s body was found in the ashes of the home.

She has been identified as Susan Dabbs, 54. Her cause of death has yet to be determined.

At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, sheriff’s dispatch received a call from a man, now identified as Shannon Dabbs, 55, husband of the deceased, who said he’s shot his wife in self defense and that she was still inside the home, which was burning.

Deputies and first responders arrived to find the home fully engulfed, with no chance of effecting a rescue. Shannon Dabbs was located outside.

At this time, charges, if any, are pending.
