The National Weather Service, Spokane, has issued a wind advisory in effect from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday for North Idaho and the Spokane area.
Sustained northeast winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour are expected, with gusts from 35 to 50 miles an hour.
The strongest winds will come as a cold front arrives Monday morning, bringing cooler temperatures and a chance of rain showers.
Winds at speeds expected are capable of damaginkg and bringing down treees and tree limbs and could result in road blockages and power outages. In addition, they are capable of blowing around unsecured items and damaging property.
Area residents are advised to secure any loose items capable of beinkg blown, and motorists of high profile vehicles are advised of difficult driving conditions, particularly on east/west roads and highways.
