9-11 remembrance set in Bonners Ferry

In honor of those whose lives were lost or permanently impacted on September 11, 2001, the Boundary County Chaplain Corps and the City of Bonners Ferry are proud to sponsor a local commemoration at 8:30 a.m. Friday, September 11, in the downtown Visitor Center parking lot.

Representatives of local veteran’s service groups will be in attendance, and the public is urged to attend as we remember and reflect upon one of the most momentous days in our national history.

The commemoration will feature a tolling of the bell at the corresponding times of the jets’ striking the twin towers in New York, a reading to remember the sacrifice and courage of the passengers on Flight 93 in Pennsylvania, and a final bell toll to honor the dead at the Pentagon, Shanksville, and the first responders that perished in New York that horrific day.

The Boundary County Fire Rescue Honor Guard will present the colors. The Patriot Guard and members of the American Legion plan to be in attendance.

Please come and demonstrate to our region that Boundary County honors and emulates the courage in the face of tragedy that was so abundantly seen in the events of 9/11. The event will take place, rain or shine, at the north end of the Visitor Center parking lot.
