A brush fire was reported on the east side of Highway 95 north of Moose Valley Farms shortly before 5 p.m. today, and Danielle Rinehart caught the action that ensued.
“I just wanted to say, what I just saw people do to put that fire out, my kids and I will never forget,” she wrote. “We witnessed true heroes at their best!”
When the call went out at about 4:49 p.m., South Boundary Fire personnel didn’t dally, but before they could get to the station, gear up and respond to the scene, several passers-by, including Wood’s Crushing and Hauling operator, Morgan Fodgee, driving a Wood’s water truck, had already sprang into effective action.
“This was a pretty good fire,” South Boundary Fire Chief Tony Rohrwasser told responding firefighters. “Keep coming but downgrade your response … these guys have it pretty much out!”
The fire shut down the northbound lane of travel for a short time, but thanks to the quick action of these Good Samaritans, the disruption was minimal.
